Both phones offer a 7.6-inch foldable inner display, but the experience is not identical. The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR foldable display with a custom Nano Texture finish. When folded, it provides a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR cover display. Apple has designed iOS 27 around the foldable form factor, including split view, paired apps and partial-folded use.
Samsung takes a different approach with the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It has a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a 5.5-inch cover display. The inner screen uses a 4:3 aspect ratio, while the cover screen uses a 10:16 ratio. Samsung says the new design is aimed at making social media, reading, streaming and other content more natural on both displays. The Fold 8 is also considerably lighter. Samsung lists its weight at 201 grams, making it the lightest Galaxy Z Fold model yet.

On paper, both are flagship-class platforms. The bigger difference comes from the software experience. There is no single winner here because Apple and Samsung are targeting slightly different buyers. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the more practical choice for most foldable buyers. It costs significantly less, weighs just 201g, offers 12GB/16GB RAM, has a dual 50MP camera system, supports 45W charging and gives users the flexibility of Android and One UI 9.
The iPhone Duo is the more premium option. It brings Apple’s ecosystem, A20 Pro performance, iOS 27, Apple Intelligence, MagSafe and up to 2TB storage. The 7.6-inch display also gives Apple users a completely new way to use an iPhone. The biggest deciding factor, however, is the price. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts ₹1,19,901 cheaper than the iPhone Duo in India. That is a huge difference for a category where both phones already sit firmly in the premium segment.
Final Verdict
Galaxy Z Fold 8 wins on value, weight, multitasking and camera hardware versatility, while iPhone Duo stands out for its Apple ecosystem, A20 Pro chip, iOS 27 experience and premium foldable implementation.
If you want the better-value foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the easier recommendation. If you specifically want the first foldable iPhone and are already invested in Apple’s ecosystem, the iPhone Duo is the more compelling choice.
