Set in the fictional state of Leonida, GTA 6 appears to be taking the series to another level in terms of detail and immersion. While the footage focused heavily on Jason and Lucia’s criminal journey, it also revealed several smaller features that could have a major impact on how the game is played. Here are some of the biggest details you may have missed.

GTA 6 Looks More Detailed Than Ever

The first thing that stands out is the sheer level of detail across Leonida. Rockstar has created highly detailed environments, realistic character models and more natural animations. The extended footage provides a closer look at the city and its interiors. Apartments, shops and clubs feature significantly more detail than what players have seen in previous GTA games.

The world also appears to be more active. NPCs are not simply standing around waiting for the player. They use smartphones, send messages and make calls. Some can also be seen eating and smoking. These small interactions could make Leonida feel much more like a living world.

A New Wanted System Could Change GTA 6

Rockstar appears to be expanding the traditional wanted-level system. GTA 6 will reportedly track player behaviour in greater detail. The game introduces a Criminal Profile, which keeps a record of a player’s actions over time. This is an interesting change from the traditional Wanted system. In previous GTA games, police attention was generally connected to the immediate crime. GTA 6 could make a player’s criminal history more meaningful. The system also appears to take inspiration from Red Dead Redemption 2, where the world reacted more dynamically to the player’s actions.

Social Media Becomes Part Of Gameplay

Social media appears to play a much bigger role in GTA 6. One scene shows Lucia stealing a car while another person hides inside the trunk. During the resulting police chase, that person livestreams the incident. Viewers then react through live messages.

This is quite different from GTA 5. The previous game featured fictional social media websites, posts and characters. GTA 6 seems to take the idea further by making social media an active part of the world. An in-game social feed can also be used to simply pass time. Players can apparently doomscroll through it, adding another everyday activity to Leonida.

Players Can Switch Between Jason And Lucia

Jason and Lucia are the central characters of GTA 6. The two form a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style criminal partnership. Players will be able to control both characters and switch between them. The extended footage suggests that Rockstar is aiming for a relatively seamless transition between the two.

The characters can also change their appearance. This gives players more control over how Jason and Lucia look during their journey. Their relationship is expected to remain an important part of the game’s story.

GTA 6 Is Not Just About Crime

There is plenty of crime in Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). But Rockstar is also giving players a long list of activities outside the main criminal storyline. The extended footage shows activities such as parachuting, swimming, clubbing, working out and kayaking. Players can also go scuba diving and play mini golf.

These activities could give players more reasons to explore Leonida instead of simply moving from one mission to another. The game also allows players to interact with animals. Petting animals is another small feature that echoes the level of interaction seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Combat Gets More Tactical

The extended footage also offers a closer look at GTA 6’s combat mechanics. Rockstar appears to be bringing back slow-motion aiming, while enemies can have highlighted weak points. This could help players make more precise shots during combat. The feature should make certain gunfights feel more tactical. Instead of simply firing at enemies, players may have more opportunities to target specific areas. It remains to be seen how extensively this system will be used throughout the game.

Safehouses Are More Interactive

GTA 6’s safehouses appear to be much more than simple places where players can save their progress. Rockstar seems to have taken inspiration from Red Dead Redemption 2 by making safehouses more interactive. Other characters can reportedly enter and leave these locations. Players can also change their appearance. This includes cutting or shaving their hair and facial hair.

The safehouses can also accommodate multiple personal vehicles. These vehicles have working trunks that can be used to store weapons and spare clothes. This could make vehicle and equipment management a more important part of the experience.

GTA 6 Encourages Exploration

One of the biggest takeaways from the extended footage is how much Rockstar wants players to explore. Leonida is not simply a backdrop for missions. The game appears to offer activities, social interactions and small environmental details that can be discovered while travelling around the map.

From watching social media to interacting with animals, playing sports or exploring underwater areas, there are plenty of distractions away from the main storyline. This approach could make the world feel more organic and encourage players to spend more time simply living in GTA 6’s version of Florida.

Conclusion

The GTA 6 Extended Look has revealed that Rockstar is aiming for much more than a bigger map and better graphics. The game appears to focus heavily on immersion and player freedom. The expanded wanted system, Criminal Profile and active social media could make the world react differently to player actions. At the same time, activities such as kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving and gym workouts give players reasons to step away from crime.

The interactive safehouses are another interesting addition. Working vehicle trunks, stored weapons and clothing could make them genuinely useful locations. With Jason and Lucia at the centre of the story, GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of Rockstar’s most ambitious games yet. The extended footage only scratches the surface. There could still be plenty more details waiting to be discovered when the game arrives.
