The gaming world just got a massive dose of excitement! The Xbox Games Showcase, which aired on Sunday, delivered some of the most anticipated announcements of the year. From the return of beloved franchises to brand-new adventures, Microsoft packed its presentation with surprises that have gamers buzzing with excitement.
The showcase wasn’t just about first-party Microsoft titles either. We saw some incredible third-party announcements that nobody saw coming. So let’s talk about all the major reveals.
Call Of Duty Returns With Black Ops 7

The biggest surprise? We are getting another Black Ops game sooner than expected. Treyarch and Raven Software are making history by bringing back-to-back Black Ops games for the first time ever. After last year’s successful Black Ops 6, Microsoft showed off an exciting teaser for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
The new installment jumps forward to the year 2035, bringing back the fan-favorite character David Mason from Black Ops 2 as the main protagonist. The world has changed dramatically since we last saw him.
“This year is 2035, and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by conflict and psychological warfare. Following the narrative events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops,” explained Xbox while posting about the announcement. “With cutting-edge technology in hand, the Black Ops team led by David Mason must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.”
What makes this even more exciting? Black Ops 7 will feature a co-op campaign, letting you team up with friends to tackle the story together. Of course, the trademark multiplayer and zombie modes that fans love will return. We’ll get the full reveal this summer. So mark your calendars!
Grounded 2: Bigger, Better, And More Bug-Filled

Remember shrinking down to ant size in your backyard? Well, get ready to do it again! Obsidian Entertainment surprised everyone by announcing Grounded 2, the sequel to the 2022 hit survival game Grounded.
The sequel takes place in 1992, just two years after the first game’s events. This time, our tiny heroes find themselves at Brookhollow Park. Here’s something amazing: the starting zone of this new setting is as big as the entire backyard map from the original game! That’s a massive expansion of the world we loved exploring.
The teenagers from the first game return, now a little older and hopefully wiser. Obsidian promises a larger and more diverse world, new combat mechanics, fresh bugs to encounter, and much more. They are also working with Eidos Montréal to make this sequel even better.
Mark your calendars for July 29, 2025! That’s when Grounded 2 arrives in game preview for Xbox Series S/X, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Team players will get early access on the same date. Best of all, it launches day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Keeper: A Lighthouse’s Journey
Here’s something completely different! Double Fine Productions, the talented team behind Psychonauts 2, revealed their next project called Keeper. This third-person adventure puts you in the role of a walking lighthouse, exploring a vibrant, mysterious world.
Your lighthouse character can use its beam of light to actually change the environment around you. How cool is that? You will also have a helpful seabird companion that assists with solving puzzles throughout your journey.
The trailer shows the game’s colorful, psychedelic world set on an island with a growing dark presence. As the lighthouse, your mission is to journey towards the center of this mysterious island. Keeper launches on October 17 for Xbox Series S/X and PC. It will be available on Game Pass from day one.
Game Freak’s Surprise
Nobody expected this announcement! Game Freak, the studio famous for creating Pokémon, revealed something completely different called Beast of Reincarnation. This action RPG takes place in post-apocalyptic Japan, where dangerous beasts roam the wild lands.
You play as Emma, a cursed outcast, who battles these massive creatures alongside her loyal dog companion, Koo. The trailer showed off gigantic beasts and action scenes that look similar to challenging Souls-like games.
Beast of Reincarnation arrives next year on PC (via Steam and Xbox app), PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. Game Pass subscribers will get it on day one, too!
Persona 4 Revival

After days of speculation from voice actors, Atlus finally confirmed what we had hoped for—Persona 4 Revival! This remake of the best of JRPGs comes with updated visuals and several improvements.
Players return to high school life in Inaba, a quiet rural Japanese town shaken by a series of mysterious murders. As a new transfer student, you will balance typical teenage challenges with uncovering the truth behind the serial murders.
Persona 4 Revival launches on PC, Xbox Series S/X, and PS5, with day one availability on Game Pass. You can wishlist it right now on all supported platforms.
A Plague Tale Returns With Resonance

Asobo Studio announces the third game in their acclaimed series, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. This new adventure serves as an origin story, taking place 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem.
Meet Sofia, the new protagonist who travels to Minotaur’s Island to discover the origin of the macula curse. She carries both a sword and light, suggesting exciting changes to the series’ combat system.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy arrives in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, with day one Game Pass availability.
