The long wait for the PlayStation 5 Pro in India may finally be nearing an end. Sony’s upgraded gaming console, which debuted globally in November 2024, has now reportedly appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database. Such listings typically indicate that a product is preparing to enter the Indian market.
The development suggests that Sony may soon introduce the PS5 Pro in India after months of uncertainty. The console was initially launched in select global markets, but the company did not confirm plans for India at that time. The BIS listing has renewed speculation that the high-performance console could soon arrive in India.

The update surfaced after analyst Arjun Campbell shared details of the listing on X. According to the information, a Sony gaming console with the model number CFI-7121 has appeared on the BIS website.
This model number corresponds to the 2025 hardware revision of the PlayStation 5 Pro. Products generally appear on the BIS certification portal shortly before their launch in India because companies must obtain regulatory approval before selling electronic devices in the country. While the listing does not reveal specifications or pricing details, it strongly indicates that Sony is preparing the console for the Indian market.
Why PS5 Pro Launch Was Delayed In India

The PS5 Pro’s absence from India since its global debut has been linked to regulatory complications. One of the key reasons reportedly involved the console’s Wi-Fi 7 support.
Wi-Fi 7 uses the 6GHz spectrum band, which has not yet been fully allocated in India. Because the PS5 Pro supports the IEEE 802.11be Wi-Fi 7 standard, this technical requirement allegedly created regulatory hurdles.
As a result, Sony was unable to release the console in India and some other markets where the required spectrum regulations were still under review.
It remains unclear whether the regulatory concerns have now been resolved. However, the appearance of the console on the BIS database suggests progress toward a possible launch.
PS5 Pro Hardware And Performance Upgrades

The PlayStation 5 Pro is designed as a more powerful version of the original PS5. Sony has upgraded several core components to improve gaming performance and visual quality.
The console features a GPU capable of delivering 16.7 teraflops of compute performance. This represents a significant boost compared to the base PlayStation 5.
The upgraded graphics engine is based on AMD’s RDNA architecture and brings improved ray tracing capabilities. This allows games to display more realistic lighting, reflections, and shadows.
Sony has also introduced its new AI-powered upscaling technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSSR. This technology enhances image quality by using AI to upscale lower-resolution images to higher resolutions while maintaining smooth performance.
Storage And Performance Features
The PS5 Pro also doubles the storage capacity compared to the original PS5. It includes a 2TB SSD, giving gamers more space to install large modern titles.
The console supports advanced display features, including 4K gaming at up to 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports variable refresh rate technology and even 8K output for compatible displays.
Ray tracing performance has been enhanced as well. Combined with PSSR upscaling, the console aims to deliver higher frame rates and more stable visuals in demanding games.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7 support, Ethernet connectivity, and multiple USB ports.
PS5 Pro Price Globally

When the PlayStation 5 Pro was first introduced in November 2024, it launched with a price of $699.99. However, the console’s price was later increased by $50 in August 2025.
It currently sells at $749.99 globally, which roughly translates to around Rs. 69,000 in India. However, Sony has not revealed the official India pricing yet.

With improved graphics performance, AI-powered upscaling, and larger storage capacity, the PS5 Pro is designed to deliver a significantly enhanced gaming experience compared to the standard PS5.
