The biggest highlight of the Sony RX10 V is its combination of a premium sensor and a highly versatile zoom lens. The camera features a 1.0-inch stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 20.1 megapixels, paired with Sony’s latest BIONZ XR image processor. This combination promises improved image quality, faster processing speeds, better dynamic range, and reduced noise across various lighting conditions.

Complementing the sensor is the renowned ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens offering a 24-600mm equivalent focal length with an aperture ranging from f/2.4 to f/4.0. The built-in 25x optical zoom makes the camera suitable for everything from wide-angle landscapes to distant wildlife and sports photography without changing lenses.

Sony also claims the RX10 V supports macro photography, allowing users to focus as close as 3cm at the wide end and 72cm at full telephoto, making it capable of capturing intricate close-up shots.

AI-Powered Autofocus For Better Subject Tracking

Sony has significantly upgraded the autofocus system by integrating a dedicated AI processing unit into the RX10 V.

The camera features Real-time Recognition Autofocus, capable of identifying and tracking people, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and aircraft with impressive accuracy. Sony’s AI-powered human pose estimation technology further improves subject tracking by recognizing body posture and movement, helping maintain focus even when the subject briefly turns away from the camera.

The autofocus system utilizes 575 phase-detection AF points, enabling fast and reliable focusing across a large portion of the frame.

For action photography, the RX10 V supports continuous blackout-free shooting at up to 30 frames per second, while maintaining continuous autofocus and auto exposure tracking. This makes the camera particularly useful for sports, wildlife, and fast-moving subjects.

Advanced 4K 120fps Video Recording

Sony has also placed a strong emphasis on professional-grade video recording. The RX10 V supports 4K video recording at up to 120fps, allowing creators to capture stunning slow-motion footage with playback speeds of up to 5x slower while maintaining excellent image quality.

Professional video features include 10-bit 4:2:2 recording, S-Cinetone, S-Log3, Active Mode image stabilization, support for custom LUTs, Auto Framing, Time-lapse recording, and Shot Mark, which allows users to extract high-quality still images directly from recorded videos.

These features make the RX10 V suitable for filmmakers, YouTubers, travel creators, and professional videographers looking for cinematic-quality footage without carrying a large interchangeable-lens camera system.

For improved audio recording, Sony has included support for compatible digital microphones through the Multi Interface Shoe, allowing creators to capture cleaner and more professional sound.

OLED Viewfinder And Tilting Touchscreen

The Sony RX10 V offers multiple viewing options for both photography and videography. It features a 0.5-inch Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder with 3.68 million dots and 0.78x magnification, delivering a sharp and detailed preview while shooting outdoors or under bright sunlight.

On the rear, the camera sports a 3-inch tilting LCD touchscreen with 1.62 million dots, making it easier to compose shots from high, low, or awkward angles while also simplifying touch-based controls and menu navigation.

Battery Life And Connectivity

Sony has equipped the RX10 V with the reliable NP-FZ100 battery, which is rated to capture up to 630 still photographs on a single charge, making it suitable for extended outdoor shoots and travel. In terms of connectivity, the camera supports Wi-Fi 6 on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C with USB 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio monitoring.

The RX10 V is also compatible with Sony’s Creators’ App, allowing users to wirelessly transfer photos and videos, control the camera remotely, and install future software updates directly from their smartphones.

Sony RX10 V Price And Availability

The Sony RX10 V has been launched in global markets with a price tag of EUR 2,499 (approximately Rs 2.72 lakh) in Europe and GBP 2,199 (around Rs 2.81 lakh) in the UK.

Pre-orders for the camera have already begun in several international markets. However, Sony is yet to announce the official India pricing and local availability details.

Its 20.1MP stacked sensor, versatile 24-600mm ZEISS lens, powerful 25x optical zoom, and blackout-free 30fps burst shooting make it an excellent choice for wildlife photographers, sports enthusiasts, and travel creators who need flexibility without carrying multiple lenses.

On the video front, the ability to record 4K at 120fps, combined with professional features such as 10-bit 4:2:2 recording, S-Cinetone, S-Log3, Auto Framing, and LUT support, makes the RX10 V equally appealing for filmmakers and content creators. Add in AI-powered subject recognition, reliable battery life, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and Sony’s mature imaging ecosystem, and the RX10 V emerges as one of the most capable all-in-one bridge cameras available today.

While Sony has yet to announce its India launch plans, the RX10 V is expected to attract enthusiasts and professionals looking for flagship-level performance in a compact, travel-friendly form factor.
